“First World Problems” provides a clear perspective into the small, beautiful, and often overlooked elements of the world.
Just like that, we’re already a month into 2018 and some of our most promising artists have already begun working on new music. We named Australian-based artist, Hazlett, our Most Promising Singer-Songwriter for 2018 and he’s already sharing a brand new single, “First World Problems.” The song is the first track off his upcoming EP.
The forthcoming EP was written in Stockholm, Sweden; “First World Problems” was recorded in London, England. As Hazlett describes how the EP came to fruition, “I started writing songs to get things off my mind and now I know there’s more things out there that need their story told.”
Like Hazlett’s other material that he has released to date, “First World Problems” provides a clear perspective into the small, beautiful, and often overlooked elements of the world. Whereas his previous tracks were driven primarily by guitar melodies, “First World Problems” features more atmospheric soundscapes and drum machine samples. This, combined with Hazlett’s signature ability to build each song up into an anthem, marks a new sense of confidence and certainty in his sound. It’s hard to believe the man was once told to “grow up” and “get a real job” when it’s extremely evident that music is his true calling in life. Hazlett was meant to inspire a little bit of positivity and hope with his music.
