Meet Niall Sexton. Originally from Co. Derry, Ireland, the now Toronto-based artist has been gaining momentum for over 5 years; he was first propelled into the spotlight with an opening slot for Ne-Yo at Liverpool’s Echo Arena where he performed to a sold out crowd of 11,000. But, his success and determination hasn’t stopped there.
Since his appearance on The X Factor UK in 2016, Niall Sexton has travelled with his 3 siblings and performed across the world including Melbourne, London, and New York. Most recently, he was spotted in Los Angeles outside the offices of major labels. In that same month, fans shared videos on Instagram of him busking in the freezing cold weather in Toronto. The musical nomad makes it clear that he is willing to do whatever it takes to reach stardom. Judging by his debut single, I would say he’s already there.
“It is a song that represents how it feels to be in an unstable relationship, unsure if your partner is worthy of your trust.” – Niall Sexton
Niall Sexton’s first bold offering is a track called “Counterfeit”; a song written in London and produced in Toronto by Tyler Shaw and MJAK. The hard-hitting pop anthem blends his versatile vocal range with electronic r&b elements to create a track where Niall Sexton exudes both confidence and star power. Within the first listen of “Counterfeit”, I could already imagine sold-out shows, luminous billboards, and chart-topping singles.
